Leading Marine Scientist Explains Coral Reef Restoration
The oceans – and especially coral reefs – need us now. “We are on the brink of functional extinction,” said Dr. Erinn Muller, Science Director for Coral Reef Research and Restoration at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium.
In honor of World Oceans Day on June 8, Scott Sensenbrenner, President & CEO of Enzymedica, Inc., sat down with the team at Mote Marine to talk about why their work is so important and how it impacts every one of us.
Watch as Dr. Muller explains why only 2% of a certain type of coral remains on the Florida Coral Reef – and what Mote is doing to restore this “linchpin to a healthy ecosystem.” Coral reefs are beneficial for healthy oceans as well as a healthy planet, so Dr. Muller shares some surprising ways that coral reefs impact our lives.
