A Dozen Ways to Make Great Health a Little Easier

At Enzymedica, our mission is to make great health easy for everyone. We’ve stayed true to that promise since 1998 — and it’s our reason “why.”

What does that look like?

  • Scouring the planet for the best ingredients nature has to offer.
  • Testing every batch for purity, so you can trust what’s on the label is in the bottle.
  • Making sustainable business choices, from LEED certified buildings to becoming 100% carbon-neutral.
  • Independently verifying that our products meet our stringent standards.
  • Partnering with world-class researchers and suppliers to deliver the best science-backed products.
  • Giving back to the Earth through our People & Planet initiatives.

We’re honored that you trust us to be a part of your journey to great health. That’s why we’re sharing some of our favorite tips for implementing new habits and routines. Read on for a dozen ways to make great health easier, starting today.

1. Stack your habits.

Habit stacking is a simple and effective way to integrate a new habit into your day – without forgetting about it or needing to devote lots of extra energy to it. If you’ve ever struggled to “stick with” something new, you’re not alone, but this could help!

As humans, we thrive on routine. Anything new can throw us off our game, even when it’s something we really need or want to do. Habit stacking is easy: Combine the new task with one that is second nature to you.

You might:

  • Practice deep breathing exercises in the school pick-up line.
  • Journal while having your morning cup of coffee.
  • Take your supplements when you brush your teeth.

2. Automate what you can.

Every decision and task we have to juggle requires mental energy. By setting up subscriptions for things you use regularly, you can free up space in your mind each week, month or year. As long you have the space in your budget, go ahead and auto-renew things like your daughter’s monthly swim lessons, bulk grocery or household items and even your favorite make-up and skin care. What a gift to never run out unexpectedly!

You can even let us remember to ship your favorite supplements. We offer Subscribe and Save on every single supplement -- you save an extra 20% (every time!), and we ship them to you automatically. You personalize your order, then choose the size, quantity and delivery frequency. We handle the rest. (And you can cancel or add more whenever you want!)

3. Lean on technology.

Can’t afford a personal assistant? Thankfully, smartphones offer many of the same features. Instead of trying to remember every little detail for later, use the virtual assistant to draft an email, calendar reminder or store list in the moment.

The mental gymnastics of trying to keep up with everything on your to-do list – along with the needs of the rest of your family – can be tiring. Take the help where and when you can!

4. Start strong each day.

Do you struggle to make choices at the end of each day? That’s because we each have a finite amount of self-control each day. Think of yours as a bank account that replenishes itself each morning. When you have to fight with yourself to make “good” or healthy choices early in the day, you dip into your reserves – and then there’s little to nothing left later when you’re tired.

“Budget” your self-control by starting your day with as many healthy tasks as you can manage. If you find yourself canceling evening workouts, switch to mornings. Commit to a healthy breakfast (with plenty of fiber and protein – skip the sugary processed carbs). Take a few moments for a gratitude or meditation practice. Your future self will thank you for putting a little extra self-control currency into your account.

5. Do what you love.

When we decide it’s time to make changes to diet, exercise or other aspects of well-being, sometimes we assume those changes have to look a certain way. We cut out gluten, go vegan or stop eating all sugar. We start running 5 miles every day. We stop watching TV entirely.

Sticking with healthy habits is easier if we choose things we enjoy. You don’t have to eat beets if you dislike them, and you don’t have to run if you find it boring. Choose Brussels sprouts or carrots. Take up power walking. The best healthy choices are the ones you make on a consistent basis – the ones that require little effort to maintain. Only you know what the “best” exercise or eating style is for you.

6. Practice gratitude.

Like mindfulness, gratitude can have a profound effect on your outlook on life – and the benefits are well-documented. When you’re working toward a new goal, it’s easy to focus on the hard parts. Instead, take time each day to celebrate gratitude.

It can be as simple as being able to move your body comfortably, having a loving family or the delicious cup of coffee you drank this morning.

7. Find joy in the little things.

In addition to gratitude, focus on the joy around you. This doesn’t mean glossing over hard or challenging feelings or experiences, but instead it’s about finding little glimmers throughout your day. Smiling and feeling joyous are good for you!

Try spending time playing with your kids or pets, complimenting a friend or co-worker or wearing something that makes you happy.

8. Take shortcuts in the kitchen.

Healthy eating can be complicated – but it doesn’t have to be. These days, there are plenty of ways to save time, money and energy in the kitchen. Sign up for meal delivery or a meal prep kit. Buy prechopped vegetables (fresh or frozen). Batch-cook a big meal for later in the week.

9. Find a partner.

Change is hard, and there’s no need to go it alone. Sharing your goals with a friend can help you stay motivated when you have a rough day. Enlisting the support of a personal trainer or dietitian can help you deepen your knowledge. And if you can recruit your partner, science shows that you might boost your chances of success!

10. Prioritize rest.

The author Virginia Woolf once wrote: “One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” In 2023, we’d like to update that advice a bit: “One cannot think well, love well, parent well, work well, exercise well or eat well if one has not slept well!”

Sleep impacts all aspects of our body and mind, so make sure you’re getting the rest you need and deserve. Adults should clock at least seven hours a night.

11. Celebrate your wins.

Change isn’t easy – especially when it comes to health. When you decide to prioritize health, life doesn’t suddenly reward you with an extra hour to work out, sleep more or cook nutritious meals. Your health journey starts with a single step, so celebrate and give thanks for the small victories along the way. This will reinforce your resolve and remind you of your “why.”

12. Let us help.

We’re here to help. Yes, our digestive enzymes can help reduce occasional gas, bloating and indigestion.* Our multi-vitamins add what the others leave out.* And our magnesium is formulated for better bioavailability and 24% faster absorption.*

We also have a blog where you can dive in deeper on the science behind those products, learn more healthy habits and life hacks – and get to know how and why we make great health easy for everyone. Thank you for trusting us to be your partner on this journey.
