How to Get Started with Intermittent Fasting

When starting any new habit, preparation can mean the difference between success and giving up before you reach your goals. The same goes for intermittent fasting.

Before you start fasting, take time to look at your lifestyle, schedule and goals. The best fasting schedule is the one that works for you – and that you can maintain without creating extra stress or work for yourself. (Check out our blog about habits for more guidance on finding the right approach for you.)

Adjusting to a new habit or routine can take some time. Go slow and go easy on yourself! Be honest about what you need and what you can comfortably commit to doing.

Do you wake up starving? Is breakfast your biggest meal of the day? Then you might want to choose a fasting schedule that ends at 9 a.m. but starts at 5 p.m. Do you exercise after work or always have dinner as a family? Then you might want to choose a schedule that runs from 7 p.m. to 11 a.m., for example.
