How to Feel Your Best While Fasting

Fasting can be a challenge for the brain and body, especially when you’re just getting started. Here are some tips to help you feel your best while fasting.

  • Get enough sleep. Your body needs proper rest, especially when you’re fasting. Even one night of poor sleep can lead to cravings, dips in energy and other challenges that make it hard to focus on your goals!
  • Stay hydrated. Thirst is often mistaken for hunger, so sipping on black coffee, plain green or black tea, herbal tea or water can help you feel your best.
  • Slow things down. Save your high-energy tasks for your feeding window and try your best to budget your energy during the day.
  • Balance your meals. Focus on fiber, protein and fat during your feeding window. These nutrients will help maintain steady energy and promote satiety.
  • Use caffeine wisely. Your usual cup of coffee or chai may feel more intense on an empty stomach. Sip slowly and drink plenty of water.
  • Listen to your body. Feel free to slowly ease into a fast or adjust your schedule as needed.
  • Add the essentials. To help support hydration, reduce hunger and promote muscle health, consider supplementing with electrolytes, amino acids and fiber.*
