Heartburn occurring within 30 minutes of eating along with the presence of weak, peeling, or cracked nails may indicate lack of hydrochloric acid (HCL) and pepsin secretion by cells in the stomach.
Nails are composed of primarily protein and minerals. Lack of stomach acid and pepsin may lead to impaired digestion of protein and assimilation of minerals, which may affect the health of the nails as well as hair and skin.
