Mucus is defined as the clear viscid secretion of the mucus membranes, consisting of mucin, epithelial cells and leukocytes.   Mucus is a beneficial protein created by the body to protect vital organs and bind up pathogens for removal from the body.

There are many things that can cause excess mucus. Among them are cold temperatures, changes in season or medications. Encouraging removal of excess mucus may lessen the discomforts commonly associated with congestion.

Special enzymes classified as proteolytic and mucolytic are beneficial to the body by breaking down mucus. Not all proteases, however, can break down all proteins. Because enzymes are highly specific in terms of what they act upon and what they do, enzymes with proteolytic and mucolytic activity are required to break down mucus protein.

MucoStop contains a blend of enzymes formulated to naturally promote easy breathing during seasonal or occasional congestion.*  The high potency enzyme , Mucolaseā„¢, works by breaking down excess mucus which the body eliminates to clear nasal and sinus passages.*Mucolase, protease and amylase, are blended to assist in overcoming the symptoms often associated with seasonal challenges.

What Are Enzymes?

Enzymes are biologically active proteins found in all living cells. Metabolic enzymes catalyze and regulate every biochemical reaction that occurs within the human body, making them essential for cellular function and overall health. Digestive enzymes turn the food we eat into energy which may be utilized by the body for various biological processes. Our bodies naturally produce both digestive and metabolic enzymes, as they are needed.
